The Delhi High Court has taken up two petitions dealing withmarriage equalityfor same-sex couples. The petitions seek that the Special Marriage Act (SMA) and Foreign Marriage Act (FMA) should apply to all couples regardless of gender identity and sexual orientation. The Court has asked the Primary government to respond to these petitions.

The number of lgbtq+ couples recorded as living together in the UK rose by more than 50% in the three years to , official statistics show.

The Office for National Statistics says there were , in , compared with , in And more than a quarter of them were married.

There were also eight million people living alone, more than ever before.

And this has been driven by increases among women aged 45 to 64 and men aged 65 to 74 years.
