Was ist das?
Mephedron (4-MMC / 4-Methylmethcathinon) ist eine aufputschende Droge, die in der Szene auch „Mephi” oder „Mephe” abgekürzt wird. International wird sie auch „Meow” („Miau”) oder „M-Cat”/„Mkat” genannt.
Mephedron ist erkennbar an seinem markanten, strengen Geruch, der angeblich an Katzenurin erinnert. Es kommt üblicherweise als klebriges oder kristallines Pulver vor, dessen Farbe variieren kann zwischen weiß, gelblich und bräunlich.
Mephedron ist ein Cathinon, eine künstliche Variante des psychoaktiven Wirkstoffs der Khat-Blätter, welche in bestimmten ost- und südafrikanischen Ländern traditionell für ihren stimulierenden Effekt gekaut werden. Als Mephedron noch nicht verboten war, wurde es als vermeintliches „Badesalz” verkauft (später wurden das aber auch andere sogenannte „neue psychoaktive Substanzen”).
