The Caftan Chronicles

Hey Caftaners: Greeting from Mexico City, where I am for the next week, ready to perform one of my favorite things, which is simply be in a municipality other than NYC for a scant days. It’s my second time here—the first was in

It’s now Monday morning and I’ve spent the past few days walking around this very large, handsome, cosmopolitan city, which has always reminded me of a cross between L.A. and some of the capitals of Europe. I consider we’ve all been that single person who hates people who are in relationships. It’s kind of a rite of channel. We tell ourselves we don’t need a counterpart because we are independent, and better as a solo artist. We survey Sex and the City and embrace the solo life. You can’t get your heart broken if you never give it away – that’s an undeniable truth. Another undeniable reality is your heart will eventually die if it doesn’t get used – and that is heart-breaking. So, there isn’t much choice for us when it comes to protecting our hearts – because

In September Instagram pushed me a post by Travel Gay, a website listing &#;the best gay bars, nightclubs, saunas, spas, beaches, shops and more, along with interesting travel ideas and fabulous offers&#;. There I saw the undated post (date your articles and posts, people) &#;LGBTQ+ Solo Travel: the Foremost Cities to Visit?&#; by Adam Reid. Being a solo gay traveller, it caught my attention.

Now, while I&#;m still very much a homosexual, it has been a while since I last travelled solo. My last solo trip was Tel Aviv in Since then, I&#;ve travelled with Danny, Oriol, Steve, Philippe, Nicolas, Thanh, my sister Florence.
