Sean O’Callaghan is widely known as a key influencer in the vegan group under the moniker Fat Gay Vegan. His Instagram account, showcasing a colourful array of vegan food and events, has finish to fifty thousand followers and he also runs a drool-worthy blog.
Sean’s distinct no-fuss approach highlights the ease and accessibility of the vegan movement, attracting vegans and non-vegans alike. He&#;s also put his popularity to good use by launching the highly successful Hackney Downs Market, a weekly people market with aim of supporting vegan businesses. If all that didn’t keep him busy enough, Sean has also start time to discharge a brand modern book, Fat Gay Vegan: Eat, Drink and Live Like You Give a Sh!t, which looks at veganism beyond the plate and explores how we can all live a little more compassionately.
We caught up with Sean to discuss what motivated him to write the guide and to come across out what being is like for Fat Gay Vegan.
What was the main event that led to your conclusion to go vegan?

Fat Gay Vegan is exactly what he says in the designate - he's fat, he's gay and he's vegan. But for a pos that's grown so accepted, what does being vegan actually mean?
The vegan community has grown hugely in the last decade but is surrounded by questions of ethics, of community, of celebrity diet fads and spurious health claims. For the last seven years, Fat Homosexual Vegan has been a voice that cuts through the fuss and the fads and calling bullshit wherever he finds it. Now, he brings together his story and those of others in the vegan community to acknowledge to the questions both vegans and nonvegans alike might have:
- Why should I be vegan in the first place?
- Does not being vegan imply I'm a bad person?
- What should my friends and family doand are they bad people?
- Do I need to be a gym bunny to be worthy of veganism? (answer: no)
- Can I still eat junk meal if I'm vegan? (answer: definitely yes!)

Sean O’Callaghan is better known as Fat Gay Vegan, and is one of the OG vegan bloggers.
Sean started his blog, Fat Queer Vegan, back in and has since “spent thousands of hours writing blog posts, promoting vegan business, supporting charities and hosting social events all in the hope that we can improve outcomes for animals.”
Sean is well-known and loved as an event planner, author and general lover of vegan meal and drink, with nearly 67k followers on Instagram. He is based in the UK and Mexico and has built up a huge following through his no-fuss approach to blogging about vegan dining from an ethical rather than ‘health trend’ standpoint.
In , Sean published ‘Fat Gay Vegan: Eat, Cocktail and Live Like You Give a Sh!t’, and now co-hosts the ‘Tell Me Where I’m Going (Wrong)’ podcast, in which “two exes engage in an irreverent chat about pop culture, ageing in the queer world, and what it’s like for a romantic relationship to morph into friendship.”
